A LITTLE CONTEXT

Learning by making things.

I’m Shiva Kar, a backend-focused Java developer, open-source contributor to Godot Engine, and BCA student at Amity University Online (CGPA 8.84). This page covers my open-source experience, academic background, and certifications.

HOW I LIKE TO LEARN

Build first. Understand deeply.

I enjoy projects that force me to look beyond the surface. Building SXSHELL (a 7-module POSIX shell in C) made me think carefully about parsing input, launching processes with fork() and execv(), wiring pipelines with dup2(), and handling edge cases.

My primary professional focus is Java backend development—building and shipping REST APIs with Spring Boot, MySQL, and PostgreSQL while grounding my engineering decisions in strong CS fundamentals.

I’m also an active open-source contributor to the Godot Engine (with 3 merged bug-fix pull requests in Godot 4.8 out of 11 submitted), which has taught me how to read large codebases, collaborate with maintainers, and ship production fixes fast.
